This comes at a time when the sector has experienced highly profitable seasons in fruit production and is anticipating greater access to bank financing.

Our Agribusiness Director, Benjamín Barros Berguecio, projects that 2025 could mark the reconnection between the banking sector and agriculture, driven by the growth in fruit exports—led by cherries—and a more favorable environment following the Monetary Policy Rate cuts in 2024. This outlook is further strengthened by the increasing interest of international funds in Chilean agriculture, particularly in sustainable investments, as well as the inclusion of agriculture as the first eligible economic sector under the green taxonomy being developed by the Ministry of Finance.

In this context, increased competition among banks and non-bank entities—such as input suppliers and factoring companies—should put downward pressure on financing and input costs, directly benefiting producers and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness.

Article published in Revista del Campo – 12/30/24

Topics such as trade agreements with India, the need to strengthen the role of Comercializadora de Trigo S.A., and international political factors will come into play in 2025.
